I bought this because I decorate cakes with fondant and gumpaste. It’s very hard to find the right tools in my area so I have to improvise. I use this tool to create different edible objects for cakes.
It’s easy to use but a little time consuming. The press is like a screw…instead of just pumping the material out, you have to twist, and twist, and twist. The discs are great; you can create so many things!!
It is hard to clean, but my standards of clean are probably a little higher since it’s being used for food.
Overall, I would say it is a good investment for me.

For those of you who have tried to force hard clay through a sub par extruder you will love this! It makes clay extrusion a snap! The only problem that I can see so far is that the black ring that comes with it is awkward.

This clay extruder should not be considered just a toy. It is a wonderful accessory for clay artists, beginners as well as seasoned. It would be great if on the packaging there was mention of other accessories available and a picture or two of completed projects. That, to my way of thinking would promote sales. The Makin Extruder is the best in this price range, my opinion. Do buy one and search out projects on the net. Kids, with some supervision, with patience and a love of working with polymer clay would be amazed what they could accomplish using their imagination and this tool.
